This Rembrandt Photogravure of H.M. King Edward VIII is
done from a sketch by Vandyk for/and with Compliments of E. Griffiths Hughes,
Ltd., Makers of Kruschen Salts, who were established at Manchester, England.
This is a fine formal portrait of the handsome society
loving man, with the boyish good looks who reigned from Jan to Dec 1936 but was
never crowned since he abdicated the throne of England for the woman he loved;
the American twice divorced, Wallis Warfield Simpson.
It measures 18 3/8” x 14 ¾” (46.5cm x 37.5cm) and comes framed
with matting 22 ¼” x 19” (56.5cm x 48cm). The photogravure has some folds and
tearing which the framer has covered with some clear tape. This piece will be a
great addition to any British Royalty collection.
